Vaux | Past Present and Future | 09-2000

A visit to the shops got one member of Vaux thinking about how, in fashion in particular, the past is an important source of inspiration for current taste: the future is retro.

Starting from this base, we began to consider how the past and future have important roles to play in the present moments we inhabit. It seems there is a paradox: the present moment is both ultimately insignificant and hugely significant in the grand movement of the past and future.

In a world that it is losing its memory and struggling to find a meaningful future, the eucharist - a ritual perfectly balancing past, present and future - finds itself eternally contemporary.
