Special events | Out of Nothing | 04-2005

'Out of nothing' was a guided/narrated journey through the Biblical days of creation, with an original soundscape and meditations. This was a project by Proost in collaboration with American youthwork resources publisher Group Publishing. It was published in the USA in 2005 under the title 'Worshipping the Creator'. We called it 'Out of nothing'. Grace ran the installation for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday 2005 in their home church St. Mary's Ealing.

The stations arranged in a circle are Void (in front of the black screen), (going counterclockwise) Day 1 Light, Day 2 Sky and sea, Day 3 Land and plants, Day 4 Sun moon and stars, Day 5 Animals that swim and fly, Day 6 Animals, women and men. The central seating area is Day 7 - Rest.

Visitors are each given a CD player and headphones. They listen to the soundtrack, instructions and meditations for each station. Above, Day 1 - Light.

Day 5 - Animals that swim and fly, and behind is Day 4 - Sun, moon and stars

From left, Day 6 - Animals, women and men; Day 5 - Animals that swim and fly; and Day 4 - Sun, moon and stars

The void before creation... waiting in anticipation.
